Evoke's July 2024 Recap

Want to learn about some of the many things the Evoke Team got up to during July?

The first week of July saw Owen from Hull College join the team for his Year 10 work experience placement. As Owen is currently studying Creative Media as his course at Hull College, he expressed interest in joining Evoke and working alongside our Digital Marketer Ben for the duration of his placement week.

Throughout the week with us, Owen attended events with Evoke as well as working in the office, taking control of all of our social media platforms for the week and the content that was shared during this time. Some of the tasks that Owen was set to complete during his work experience placement included: Learning how to create social media content on different creative software and how to schedule it to be shared at a later time and date; Designing several forms of marketing material such as brochures, posters, banners, and more; Creating 3D models on modelling software; Editing and creating content for the Evoke website, including the blog Owen created which you read here; and learning about our ActiveFloor interactive floor solution and our virtual reality education kits.

Everyone here at Evoke would like to say a big thank you to Owen for his time with us during his work experience week, we thoroughly enjoyed you being part of our team and seeing all the content he created for us.

As mentioned above, we also attended Y Focused's Immersive Work Experience Week event at Princes Quay, Hull where year 10 students from Winifred Holtby Academy had the opportunity to meet various business leaders gaining knowledge and inspiration, learn about a variety of careers whilst being in a professional environment, raise aspirations and build their confidence, and more.

During this event, we were able to showcase our RedboxVR classroom virtual reality kits to the students to show how beneficial VR can be in their learning, with students saying the following: "Subjects like Geography would benefit from the VR as you can be immersed anywhere"; " It's a good way to experience things that you may not have been able to"; "It's amazing and so cool"; "VR should be used in learning".

We also had the opportunity to use our ActiveFloor Mobile interactive floor solution to show both educational learning content and fun games to groups of students, with the students being thoroughly engaged and getting involved throughout the entire week.

The ActiveFloor Mobile is the optimal solution if you cannot place the ActiveFloor at a fixed location within the building or if you want to share the ActiveFloor with multiple locations. This mobile and height-adjustable model is also perfect for use as a table model, and is suitable for Primary and secondary education, University, school care and more. You can find information on other models here.

Another opportunity Evoke had in July was to demonstrate ActiveFloor to several groups of students at Winifred Holtby Academy and groups of international students that they had welcomed into their school. It was amazing to see how ActiveFloor can break down language barriers and engage both sets of students simultaneously as they engage, play and learn together through various types of fun, educational content.

From competitive team activities that focused on communication and learning with mixed groups of students, to content that focused more on movement and exercise - both sets of students loved the ActiveFloor.
